Blog > What updates should sellers consider?
When selling your home, you have plenty of decisions to make. One of the biggest is deciding whether to sell the home as is or investing time and money into fixing it up (hopefully increasing your profits in the process).
There’s no perfect answer, but you may want to start with a seller inspection, which can identify any major issues that could throw off your sale. Then, you can repair those items before putting the home on the market.
Additional projects will depend on your budget and timeline. Here are a few optional updates you may want to consider.
- Lighting: This is a small but impactful update. Swap your current light bulbs for soft white or daylight white LED options. Your home will instantly look brighter and more open.
- Curb Appeal: Make little changes to your home’s exterior to make it more marketable and eye-catching. Upgrade your address numbers, install a new mailbox, plant some flowers or repaint your front door.
- Repaint: If your walls have bold hues that don’t appeal to everyone, repainting them a more neutral tone is probably a good idea. A fresh coat of paint can also help if your interior or exterior paint appears dirty or faded.
- Kitchen and Bathroom Renovations: These are high-focus areas for buyers, and they can offer a decent return on your investment. Consider updating countertops and flooring, installing new fixtures and appliances and painting cabinets.
